So my 4 year old learnt how to play chess this weekend and what did she think of the game..... She loved it and asked to play again.

Thinking of her next move

Look I'm 37 years old and have a minimal understand of chess, and here my 4 year old is playing better then I can.

This weekend I was childless, which gave me the opportunity to crochet. I made a newborn bonnet and this little guy.. BUNNY..

He stands about 6" tall and has a poofy tail. He is all crocheted, so no harm was done in making of the bunny.

I really love making creatures.. they seem to come to life in my hands.. I don't think this pic does him justice..

so be prepared for bunny invasion! I have ideas people IDEAS!!!!!

Crochet Octopus... on a roll

So I'm on a roll in making my Octopusesss, I have been playing with different kinds of yarn, but the yarn I have most enjoyed using is Bernat Handicrafter yarn. Easy to crochet with, and makes a nice tight fabric. I'm using a 3.5 mm crochet needle for the head, and a 4.25mm for the legs and mantle piece.

I have been using eyes that I purchased from Etsy - 6060, she carries a variety of safety eyes, and is always fast with delivery... and inexpensive! Double bonus in my books.

As for my hands well it can be challenging, when doing the tight knit, my hands get slippery, and I will need to find a way that I can easily hang-on to the needle without killing my wrists. ANY suggestions would be fantastic on what others do to save their hands from cramping up!

When I was just about to head upstairs to the bathroom...... Our mighty hunters had caught another mouse... and normally once dead is left alone and we the humans dispose of the remains.. NOT this day, oh hell NOOOOOO baby kitty decided that not only are these small furry creatures awesome to play with LIVE, but dead as well.. and flinging them up and down the stairs is a blast.. YAAAAA..

"DOOOOONNNNNNNNNNN" were the words that came out of my mouth.. oh yes the love of my life, my hero, grab the deceased rodent by the tail and disposed of it.

I thought awesome, went to the bathroom, then I saw where the carnage originally happened... yaaa spent the next 15 minutes cleaning up Kitty's murder scene...

Wow I can't believe another year has passed..

The holidays was a much needed break from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

I was able to play around with my crochet hooks as well as some knitting skills. My love for knitting hasn't changed, for those who don't know.. I'm being very sarcastic. I'm a crochet girl.. but I have also come to realise that there are just some projects that require two needles not one. So I'm learning... please Don has asked me to make him a pair of socks! I love the challenge!

Well Voila! The final product of the unicorn. I am really happy on how she turned out. I do hope that her new owner will love her. She was a lot of fun to make and to see her come to life. This project did do a number on my hands, but again every time I make one of these, it is a learning experience... rubber thimbles.. is all I'm saying!!!!!

I found this really interesting idea in which your sent a kit to retrieve a blood sample, and in turn you get a picture of your DNA. Honestly I think this is really a neat idea. Is it cheap, that would be a negative!
If I could I would get my daughter and myself done. It would be neat to compare our DNA.. since she is a part of me...

Saving Christmas Magic for just one more year

I received and email from a mom asking me to create a unicorn for her daughter.

here is part of the email that she sent to me:

"All my girl wants for Christmas is a stuffy unicorn that Santa made, not one that you can buy. Santa makes his own toys and she said that he doesn't live in China, he is from the north pole, and that his toys have to be from there too. If not then Santa must be lying.

I think this is her last year of believing...but i want her to stay little and full of magic for just one more Christmas."

Being a mom to a little person, and watching the magic that we as adults lost so long ago, it made me think, and realise that I to will go threw this, the day the magic disappears from Adele. So I'm so happy that I can help make it last just one more year for this mom.

So here is the work in progress:

I have to say what her daughter said about Santa makes his gifts, really hit home to me. It's true... we live in such a materialistic world and we place those ideas and values onto our children. When really all they want is something to love and cherish. It doesn't matter how expensive it is.. but that it came from the heart. It really is a learning lesson that we adults need to learn from. I wish I could see the look on this little persons face on Christmas day, and it warms my heart to know that this unicorn will be cherish and loved.

If your wondering what I wanted for Christmas, well this year it was simple.. he arrived a month early!

The company that I am working for is about to have their 60th anniversary, while going threw a treasure trove of old products still with they're original packaging, we came upon this box.

I don't know when this was printed or when it was sold, but 10 cents for a chocolate bar.. omg unheard of in todays vocabulary.

I thought it was neat to find this amongst all of our products over the years, how did this box sneak into our fishing gear?

I'd like to find out the date of this box, just to fulfil a curiosity.

The past four years have been an interesting chapter of my book of life... I have learnt to be a strong independent woman. I became a mother, a daughter who lost her father and loss of many other people in ones life, a divorcee, a motorcycle tattooed mama. I have made some amazing friendships and have lost some as well..

Soon thou, life is about to make another huge change for me, for the better, and I can't wait to see where it's going to take me.... I'm excited

Those that are close to me know already ..... and soon I will spill the beans to the rest of you...

AFC - new experience

I had the opportunity to be at ringside at an AFC event.
I have always seen events like this on TV, and didn't think to much of it.. yes a bunch of grown men grunting and beating the crap out of each other like kids did after school...

That being said... I have a whole new respect for the sport and it's competitors. What I witnessed threw the lens was amazing drama as well as the best sportsmanship I have ever seen. After these men beat the crap out of each other, after every fight they would either help each other up, and make sure the opponent was ok. Hugs were given, and thanks for a good fight. Talk of "hey you got me good there" or " are you ok", made me understand why these guys do this. Yes you want to get your opponent to "tap out", but in the end it's a bunch of grown men having a good time, and enjoying what they like to do...

I do hope I get invited back to take more pictures, I have so much more to learn about this sport, and really would love to be able to capture more then just strength and ability but also more of the essence of this sport.

Halloween

Yesterday was Halloween and I had my little one with me this year. We were supposed to go to the Mall then trick or treat around the neighbourhood, but she was so exhausted from the daycare and they're halloween party, that we both decided that a good cuddle time on the couch, have a warm meal, then head out.
We managed to do about a block, and my little one had a full bucket and was happily finished for the evening. She did most of the walking and I was so proud of her at how polite she was to everyone!!! She even told one lady to have a good sleep! It was so sweet...

In the end Adele was very content with her halloween treasure trove, and we now have treats to last for many months to come!

BTW if your wondering what my daughter was for halloween, good question, she changed her mind a few times, and went from Batgirl, to zombie girl, to combat girl and in the end she decided that being all three was cool!

Weekend with Mini Me....

I'm very excited, this is my weekend with my baby girl, and I have so many arts and craft ideas to do with her. I'm hoping to take her swimming, my little one is becoming a fish, sigh just like her mom used to be.
If the weather keeps like it is right now.. I'm thinking a trip to the butterfly gardens might be in order, or the aquarium!
Tonight Adele and I are going to cuddle and watch a movie "Nanny McPhee". I'm pretty excited to watch it with her. She loves the second one, and Don and I were able to find the first one at Future Shop for $5!!!!!
So many adventures to be had this weekend.. maybe we might go explore rain puddles!

ugh I left my phone at home.... I never leave it at home.. I'm feeling soooo naked without it!
by the time I realised I had left it at home, there was no way I could turn around..
I have a blackberry bold.. LOVE LOVE my blackberry!!!

Blackberry = RIM = Canadian which in turns = good for the Canadian economie.
It's one of my reasons why I am not an iphone, or samsung user.

Baby Grayson

I had the privilege of taking pictures of my good friend's new baby boy Grayson. This little man is only 11 days old. He is so adorable, and yes I got to hold him! Nothing like fresh new baby smell!
Mom is doing fantastic and looks amazing for having a baby 11 days ago.. 72 hours of labor - 4 hours of pushing, and a bundle of joy at the end.

I'm in the process of teaching Adele that everyone has a turn when talking.. I have found that people will just gladly interrupt a little person talking, like what they have to say isn't as important as what an adult has to say. So in turn I have found that not only am I teaching Adele the importance but adults as well.

That her little voice, her thoughts and ideas are just as important.

I have stop many conversations already with adults who have talked over Adele, to let her finish what she was trying to tell me, before she was interrupted. Don't get me wrong I have also stopped Adele when she has tried to interrupt in some else's conversation, and explain to her to wait her turn. Teaching her respect towards others as well...

So I guess my thought today is.. no matter how small, or how old, allllll are important.. and yes including the thoughts of a 4 year old, trying to explain what alien slime knots are....

weekend art projects

This weekend Adele and I played with glue, glass, more glue, and crayons...
one project HUGE success the other NOT so much.. but a learning experience...

First Project..
White Glue, a frame and coloured glass "stones"
It's pretty simple pour glue onto the glass and start placing the stones

The one of the left is Adele's. We had a really fun time making these.. Only draw back is that I'm still waiting for the glue to dry. It's been since Saturday and still waiting to hang these puppies in the window of the living room!

Second project... not so good
Making our own crayons out of old crayons...
Required - crayons (paper removed) a hammer and mould

Sooooooo we had a lot of fun with the hammer.. and crushed the crayons bits to even tinier bits! then I placed them into the mould .. ...

Out come

Lesson learnt..
to make these robots it will have to be a layer process.. so once the initial wax has melted you then have to create another layer to make it more solid, hence our decapitated heads, arms, and legs.. BUT on a positive not, Adele did have fun colouring with one of the decapitated heads!!! So I plan on doing this project again with her.. if anything to have fun with the hammer!!!!!

Next project.. ink and water!

It has been awhile since I had graduated from Computermaster - a school where I learnt how to do 3D animation as well graphic design.
Walking in HomeDepot a blast from the past literally walked right by me! It was my Animation teach Rob Ives. Folks this guys is an incredible artist. I loved his art then and I still do to this day!

I went to visit my boyfriend... yes people I said BOYFRIEND.. in Calgary..

It was a wonderful 6 days with him, exploring the city of Calgary.. I was amazed by the incredible architecture that this city had to offer..

So many small old buildings surround by these gigantic sky scrapers.... it was really a site to see.

Adele and I have the same color of Converse shoes. These are actually her third pair... and in all honestly I will keep buying them, and I will keep every pair.. She loves the fact that we match.. and I will treasure that always.. until she becomes a teenager and thinks it's un-cool to be like mom.. and when that day comes, I know it will bring a tear to my eye..

I had Adele this weekend, and it was so awesome.
We went swimming, my little girl is turning into a fish....
We did painting, and played with sparkles..
and in the end... my angel fell asleep

as she slept I sat and stared and wondered what was she dreaming? Was she dreaming of swimming with the dolphins, or playing in a playground.... in the end I picked her up and held her, and told her she is loved, kissed her warm forehead. So at lunch time (to cool my nerves from personal events)... I went to the local book ( Tanner's Books) store here in Sidney. They have a nice selection of crochet books, and it helps me calm down. Trying to find ideas for Adele's scarf, I came upon a book about interweaving crochet. I was just about to purchase it, when I decided.. I can look online and see if I even like doing this.. and welll this is the outcome so far.. a little tricky at first but this is what I have created so far... I am pretty sure I have screwed up already.. but meh.. I like the pattern it's creating..

So last night I was able to sit and finish Adele's hat, I'm pretty happy with the outcome, and looking forward to giving it to her tonight.

I really like this yarn, the colors are so vibrant and exciting. I have still a lot left and thinking a scarf will be a perfect match for this, since the cold days of fall and winter are apon us.. just the question issss what kind of scarf to make her, stripped, fancy, loomed???
Anyone have any ideas? Suggestions?

WIP - Work in Progress -
I have a few projects on the go, some are hidden deep within the container of wool screaming for completion, which i choose to ignore.

I have been working on a couple of projects that I would like to share with you today... drum roll please... ok in my head it is a drum roll, in your head might be tumble weeds rolling across the desert..

Adeles new hat :

As you can see I'm using a kniffty knitter. Adele chose the colors. I'm using Paton's "Beehive Baby Chunky" in Billowy Blue and Plusher Pink. This yarn works really well with the loom. It very easy to handle, and the outcome so far gives the hat a warm cozy feeling. The hardest part to stop Adele from putting it on her head while I'm making this!!!! I will also be using Clover Pom Pom maker to finish this hat off!

(Please Note : the pink wool looks like it is throwing up, yaaa over pulled the center out, and also note the timmies cup - a must for all Canadian crocheters!)

Second Project: a shawl for ME:

Ok so right now it's not much.. I have a bunch of these flowers to make still, and I need to start blocking the flowers. I took the pattern from "Crochet! Magazine" The yarn that i'm using is Sidar Snuggly "Baby Bamboo" It is soooooo soft, and I love working with bamboo. Just wish it wasn't so expensive!!! Originally this shawl was going to be a gift for someone, and as I started to work on it, I realised that I have yet to make something for myself, and thought it was about time. Can you imagine with this is done with a little black dress!!!!!!

OK people this is a venting moment - cover your ears or something

I love my child, everyone who knows me knows that that little girl saved me from falling into a dark hole, and showed me what true love is..

BUT right now is I swear the devil in disguses as a CUTE blonde blue eyed child..
NO NO NO NO NO.. Adele socks - NO, Adele coat - NO, Adele clothes please - NO

Then we are now back into hitting and kicking - to add to the NO factor. What she turns 4 and is a UFC fighter now.. when did this happen. That was not in the manual when she was born... I saw the contract in there was NO mention of UFC fighter..

I know my mom is probably laughing and thinking "ahhhh sweet revenge" as she is a mini me, no doubt about that. Stubborn and cute!!!!!

SOoo the cold season begins

YUP Adele is sick, a lovely cold. Was up in the middle of the night soothing Adele. Poor thinking, couldn't stop coughing in the middle of the night. It just sucks to see your child ask you to make it stop, and there is nothing I can do.

She has accomplished so much in a short time in her life.. but most of all she has taught me to be a mom, and how to love unconditionally.

She has a very strong personality, and is STUBBORN, she can hold her own that's for sure!!!
Even thou I have to share her with my Ex and his girlfriend... when she fell and hurt herself, she wanted Mama, and looked everywhere to find me and jumped up into my arms and I wiped her tears, and hugged her. Reassured me that no what is happening in her life she knows who Mama is, and no one can take that away from me..

Now onto a new year, and new adventures!!!!! What is year 4 going to bring to her... I can't wait to find out!

So three cheers to my little "mini me" the one who inspires me to live, laugh, and most of all love!

This morning i drove into work, and the sunrise was breathtaking.. with the fog in the trees and the sky multiple colors.. I was truly in aww at what beauty we have here on the island. Ocean, mountains, valleys, farmland... truly spectacular. And when I drive or ride to work in the morning.. these are the moments of beauty that remind me why I love living here so much... oh and the fact that I live in Canada and on an island that doesn't get SNOW or winter!!!!!! That helps also!

I have been on a constant none stop journey, and yesterday I decided that I needed some alone me time. After work, hopped on the bike and went for a nice ride down to Dallas Road, parked the bike and sat and watch the world go by. Listen to the ocean and enjoyed the sun.

I found Adele's baby book, in the book was her ultra sound pictures and an imprint of her foot when she was born. I had fun sharing with her how tiny she was, and what she looked like inside my belly, and we measured her foot beside her imprint. Twice the size now.

She enjoyed looking at the pictures of her the day she was born.. and to see her face light up in realizing that that was her!

So here are a few more hats that I have been working on for the hospital. I decided to give the "Knifty Knitter" a try and see what can come out of it. I was very impressed at how easy it was, and how fast I could make hats with it. The best part of this product is that I was able to make some of the these hats with the help of Adele. I have only made hats so far, but as I am learning there are so much more you can do with this product. Second of all I bought Clovers PomPom Makers, again what an easy to use contraption, Adele loves to make pompoms, that's how easy it is, and fast fast fast. It comes in various sizes. For these little hats I was using the smallest pompom maker. Did I mention your pompoms come out looking like a pro!!!

If your in a hurry to make a hat for a gift, these knifty knitters is the way to go.
But that being said I still love my crochet hats, as I feel like I can personalize them way more! I have found some really interesting patterns these past couple of days, and I'm looking forward to seeing what I come up with. Will keep you all posted!

As summer is drawing to an end, I believe more crochet time is in the works.

As most of everyone knows I make crochet hats and creatures. But as we all know, they get dirty, and the questions is then HOW THE HELL DO I clean this.
I was looking online to find ideas on what to do, and I came across a neat way of doing it. Being that I'm a graphic designer by trade, uhmmmm hmmmm I could easily make them myself.. whoa what a concept!

So voila, labels that I will be adding to my creations that I donate to the hospital.
All I have to do is circle the the correct care of the item and VOILA... all covered!

Yesterday I received the best surprise at work.. My daughter came and visited me at lunch time! Her Nana brought her out for the visit. It was so awesome to see her, she looked so adorable. It made an ordinary day, extraordinary!

As I was getting my desk ready for lunch, Adele decided that lunch would be better on the floor as a picnic.. and she was so right!

I am just so lucky to have a little person like her in my life!!!

Ok so it's been awhile since I have gone on a good hike, and last night i went on one. I was a little nervous about since it had been awhile and not know what my uhm lung capacity could handle it.. and wow, I had an amazing time getting to the top of the mountain, and was not disappointed when I reached the top. WHAT a view! The view was incredible, and I just sat there and took it all in! Seriously what a truly amazing place this island is. This is Canada's hidden treasure, there is NO question about that!

I finally reached number 15 of artwork on my body!
I'm very proud of this one, and it is to honour first my grandfather - who fought in WW2 as well as the Korean, and other battles that have not been told of. Second for my Uncle Brian, who is currently still serving in the military, and who has seen more then I could ever imagined. I also dedicate this tattoo to all serving and have served members of our military, but this tattoo is to also honor those that have done the ultimate sacrifice for us, and that they will NEVER be forgotten!

"Freedom isn't Free" and we need to remember that. We are here because of those that go and fight for us. We need to be greatful and thank those that leave their families, loved ones, and support for when they return.

Again I ride with a group of amazing veterans and I'm truly honored to ride beside them.

On Saturday, Rimini was asked to help Bill Willbond get izzy dolls and boomer hats ready for shipping to Africa, where Bill distributes them to children. It's truly is an amazing cause, that the CAV supports!

I had my daughter that day, and brought her along to see what giving is. And she was a trooper.. was so helpful. I was so proud of her when she asked if she could give some of her teddies to the children, because they needed them more then her.

We had a great crew out to help and again reaffirms why I love CAV and the guys and gals I ride with.. and that this is where I am meant to be.

First time at the movies - Cars 2

So the decision between my Ex and I was that when Cars 2 came out we would ALL take her to see this movie as Adele's first experience in a theater.
Sunday was the big day - this kid had a huge entourage with her. My Ex and his girlfriend, Mason (Adele's buddy) Mason's parents, as well as Mason's grandparents and uncle.
I had the priviledge of sitting beside my daughter (her request) and not gonna lie, it felt a little weird sitting beside my Ex. Can't remember the last time we were in a theater together, and of course his girlfriend clutched to his arm on the other side of him (not gonna lie.. made me giggle)

Adele's words before the movie started " Mama I'm gonna FREAK OUT" it was sooo cute..

As for the movie.. Well I'm not gonna lie.. I was rather disappointed.. WHY you may ask.. the Violence.. So much violence for children to watch.. numerous times I had to explain to my child about what was happening.. and how killing is bad, and what those bad guys were doing was wrong. The whole point of seeing this movie and why we picked it was because the first one had no violence, and had a heart felt moral to it.

As an adult Cars 2 did have a few good laughs, but was more worried about what my daughter was looking at.

I hate to say this, but I DO NOT recommend this movie for younger children... this is more gear towards teenagers and adults... which to me is pretty sad to say the least. I now wish we would have known that part and waited for the new Winnie the Pooh movie.
But oh well.. can't win them all..

Fatigue

It's been a few nights since I have truly had REM sleep.. and it's really starting to take a toll on me..
Tomorrow I get my little one back for the weekend, first weekend in three weeks I get her. I am looking forward to it.. but hopefully I can get a good night sleep tonight.. here is hoping!!

because of the recent activities of the past two weekends, I have had a total of 2 days with my little one.. My Ex took her to the mainland last week and I haven't seen her now for 5 days.. last week it was 4 days.. This was also my choice and decision....

I have been missing my little one dearly, especially with all the events that have been going on.. when you just want to go home and hug her, I can't, when I need to hear her little voice, I can't.. This is the part of being a single parent that sucks, is having to share your little one.. There are silent rules that one follows to respect the other parents time. It's not easy, not easy at all.... But I respect the silent rules.

Boomer's Legacy

Rimini was approached by Maureen Eykelenboom if we could escort the over 90 cyclist that would be cycling from Comox BC to Victoria, who raised funds for "Boomer's Legacy".

6 Rimini Members ( Uncle Stew, Mily, Tazz, Goody, Diesel, Jelly Bean) Waited for the cyclist to get over the Malahat and began escorting the riders to the Legislative Grounds in Victoria.

It was truly a moving event, and at moments when you could see the exhaustion in some of the riders, I watched a stronger rider would place a hand on their back to keep them going.. truly a touching moment..

Arrive at the destination - many hugs and cheers were given.Jane Nuttall was there waiting for the team ( she lost her son Lieutenant Andrew Richard Nuttall 2009.12.23)

As speeches and thanks were given, one moving moment when Maureen introduced Jane, she was standing alone, and as Mily and I turned to see she was alone, her and I walked over and made sure she wasn't, and that she knew we were there for her and she was appreciative.
There are no words...

When time for the group photo all cyclist were asked to sit on the steps, and Rimini was asked to be in the picture.. lets just say we REALLLY stood out!!!!

We were also invited to partake in the after party and supper..
Upon arriving - had a tasty beverage from Howe Sound Brewing of Squamish, British Columbia new beer, Boomer's Canadian Red Ale. The Ale will be made only once a year and released during remembrance day.
Supper was amazing, Maureen gave thanks to everyone who helped including Rimni.

On a side note : These past two weekends have been emotional and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Ride for the Fallen and Boomer's Legacy.. How loss and tragedy can lead to such positive energy. I have never been more proud to be a CAV memberTo have a silver cross mother thank me and the rest of the crew for being there even if it was just a shoulder the lean on.....

There are truly no words to express how I feel after this weekend. Joy, Sorrow, Excited, Teary, Happy, Sad.... This weekend I felt it all.. and this weekend I stood tall as a CAV member, proud to be apart of such an incredible family of riders.Brothers and Sisters all united to be supportive for our Silver Cross Families..

RIde for the Fallen

I am sooo excited about this weekend's ride..
We will have a Highway of Heroes in BC, and I'm so proud that CAV will be a hug part of this momentum occasion. Brother Brutus from Ubique 3rd CAV has truly out done himself, and it will be such an honor to see and ride with him and fellow CAV members again!

Since I will be taking pictures, Apple Blossom is home, SIGH - and parked very nicely. It's kinda hard to ride ones' bike and take pictures of such an amazing event.. I don't want to miss a thing!!!!!

Flat Tire on the bike

I know now what happens on a bike when you get a flat tire.. and let me tell you.. it's an experience I don't particularly want to go threw again anytime soon.
The feeling of your back tire going flat creates this intense sound.. I honestly thought that it was my engine, then the back started to wobble all over the place.. I was able to get the bike and myself safely to the side of the road... Once I calmed my nerves.. I called work, and the guys were so awesome.. I fellow co-worker named Chris, hooked up the race car trailer and came and picked up. My bike got the royal treatment..Once back at the work, Chris was awesome, he removed the tire from the bike, and another co-worker suggested I called Peninsula Tire out here in Sidney.. They don't normally do motorcycle tires, but was so amazing enough to fix mine.. SO THREE CHEERS to Peninsula Tires and Brakes out here in Sidney!!!!! Fantastic guys for fixing a girls bike tire!!
Then another THUMBS up to Chris for putting my back tire back on.. which allowed me to ride back home..

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little more paranoid now, and listening even more so to all the sounds that the bike makes. But I am truly grateful to everyone that helped me on Monday.. and that I did not have to experience a ride in an ambulance and made it home safely...

Ride to Live

Last Sunday, a group of us joined the Ride to Live - the funds raised went to Prostate Cancer research. Prostate Cancer is what took my father away from this world so this event was very close and personal.

How Adele was named

I have been asked how did I chose the name of my little one, was she named after the singer.. and I thought well now is a good time to explain.

When I was 16, I had a teacher named Remi Maisonneuve. He was our computer teacher, he was the one that allowed me to explore and test out computer programs in high school, aka the beginnings of Photoshop, and a hand held scanner. He always encouraged me to test and look outside the box.

He had three kids, Sarah, Joel and Adele. I used to babysit the kids as well, and always loved the name Adele from the moment I heard it.

Time moved on, and graduation, then I moved away from the area, but I always made a point to say hi to Remi, when I would go home, and tell him of where my computer knowledge that he first started was taking me.

Discovering that I was pregnant then realizing I was to have a little girl, many names came flooding to my brain. Angelina, Isabella, but none seemed right.. then one night as my little person rolled in my belly, the name Adele came racing to my brain.

I never had the chance to tell Remi, that my daughter was actually named after his, as he and his family moved away, but perhaps one day I will get to tell him... how one person can influence even years later!

May Long weekend

This is a busy weekend ahead..
We have Spring National Meeting for the motorcycle group I ride with. Presidents from all over the country are joining together in Victoria to meet and discuss events that the CAV will partake in.

This weekend is also Rodeo weekend at the Luxton fair groups.. should be a blast..Took tonnes of amazing photos last year, and hope to repeat..

I don't have Adele this weekend.. my little one is sick again, and has been coughing and runny nose for the past 2 days, as well as a another fever... It seems like this will never end.. She is also tired of being sick, and it's heartbreaking when she askes you to make it stop.

The weather was supposed to be amazing this weekend.. and just looking at the weather report.. WHAT THE HELL.. SHOWERS.. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO that is not the correct answer for the May long weekend.. GRRRRRRR

I have a thing for food.. it makes me happy. And also finding a good meal for a fantastic price makes it so much more delicious. So when my office mate had her final day in the office (sad face) we went to "The Dish" OMG. It's a small cafe style restaurant, in the industrial area where I work.

I ordered the crispy chicken burger.... and this is what I got!

I will add that the fries were so good, and gravy was nice and thick and intense flavor.

Everyone else at the table very much enjoyed their meals.. Will I go back.. OH HELL YA!!!

I love my daughter, she is my whole world, and can't imagine life without her... BUT there are times where I could have SOLD her to the gypsies... and this weekend was one of them!!!!!

She is so smart, and knows what she is doing... she knew how to push buttons, and does it so well.. She is stubborn, and strong headed. She wants to win, and in life in general is a good thing... but when it comes to winning with mommy, mommy usually comes out on top. Notice the word "usually". This weekend I was again pushed to my end, to the point where my roommate looked at me and said GO.

I found the jeans that had a belt on, put my boots on - without socks - jacket and helmet and left to cool my nerves... and it was just the one thing I needed to calm down.
Once the anger was gone, I headed home, to butt heads to my lovely little angel~ with pitch fork hidden.

I love my daughter, no question about that.. but today I am happy that she is with her father.. there are bonuses of sharing custody.. and right now this is one of them.

What is happiness?
To some it's money, to others living off the land, a child's laugh, or the first breath of fresh air in the morning, or that cup of coffee in the morning. It's hard to say everyone is different and has a different perspective of what is happiness.
Many events happen in life, and allows that perspective to change every fleeting moment.

What makes me happy.... right now at the this moment in time... seeing my little girl smile, sitting on my motorcycle, hearing "i love you".

Sometimes all it takes is words, a touch, a moment to make you feel happy.

What I realise:
I'm the older one now and now one of those people that look at the younger generation and go WHOA what are they thinking.. then I stop and go.. WHOA what the hell was I thinking!!!!

So as must of you know I create tonnes of hats for the neo-natal unit for our local hospital. Well today a fellow work came up to me to tell me that she was visiting a friend who just had a baby, and while exploring the maternity ward came across a bunch of pictures of little ones, and there were my hats, in the pics, and not just any hats but of my little pumpkin patch I had created in October. She said it was adorable.... Not going to lie it brought a tear to my eye, to just hear how my hats brought joy to families. It makes what I do so worth it.. and has given me an extra push to create more exciting hats for families to chose from.

Since all my hats are gone, I told my friend to ask her friend if she would like a custom one for her new little girl named Scarlet, but I think I already have an idea for her.

Ugh so Adele has been having "accidents" a lot lately..
She gets so busy at what she is doing that she forgets that she needs to go to the bathroom and when she finally re-clues in, it's to late.

Sooooooo last night gorgeous evening.. and time to go and play at the park. Adele do you need to go to the bathroom "No mama". Out we go..
The park is about 2 blocks away from the house... arrive at park, time on the swings, slide the basics. Then I hear:

MAMA I NEED TO GO PEE

So I scoop her up and start to trek it home ASAP, I ask her if she can hold on, "yes"
ok we might make it, then i hear a giggle, and well my arm was warm..

ADELE did you just pee on mama's arm???
YES hee hee

I'm not going to say how unimpressed I was! So needless to say we didn't make it back..
Was I upset.. YUP..
Was Adele upset.. NOPE thought it was funny.

Sooooo and now presenting my purple unicorn!!!
She has a home and will be going to a little girl named Brie. I really enjoy making these. Every time I create a new one, I find some new trick or "opps" moment!
For the stuffing I used stiffer stuffing I found at Fabricland. More for use with tough pillows for couches. I'm really liking the use of it, as it allows me to mould the character and keep it's shape so much easier!

Other then that.. I'm about to try to learn how to crochet Tunisian crochet in rounds. YUP rounds. Finally there are some videos online, and now that I am taking a break from the unicorns, I can work on making myself a cowl! I purchased a long time ago some amazing yarn (on sale yipee) and have been wanting to make something for ME.. so will attempted to log it.. and bring you all on for the ride..

Riding = Therapy

Not a lot of people know what has occurred to me in the past three years, and the loss that I have gone threw, but the day that I was finally able to ride a motorcycle sent feelings of freedom and total relaxation. I ride because I enjoy the sense of freedom that a motorcycle gives, your vulnerable, your at the mercy of the elements, you have to relax yet be aware of your surroundings. Your alone with your thoughts. I have solved world peace so many times I've stopped counting. It's funny no matter what even when riding in a group, you are surrounded by fellow riders, who all understand the peace and tranquility of riding, but you are still alone when you ride. I love it, it is my therapy, my release from this world, from my reality of life.
Someone once told me, have you ever seen a motorcycle in front of a therapist office??

Yoga and cross training

Ok so I have started back up in yoga now.. oh boy! So much work again at least I have 30 weeks to go!!!
I have started to notice my energy level increasing, and I have lost 6lb now. Jeans are starting to fit better, and I notice my sleeping pattern is shifting...So far so good.. knock on wood!

I have to get my peddle bike up in working order again, so that can be added to my training sessions.

I'm also back into reading about running again and will post my favorite places to go soon.
I'm still pretty excited about this journey I'm partaking in. It's nice to have a goal again..
Again having a support team behind me is worth it's weight in gold!

Day 2 of training

Ok sooo I have started my training again..
My legs are fine.. lungs NOT SO MUCH!
I have a lot of work ahead of me. Thank god I have tonnes of time. Again first goal 10k in May. God seems like it's so far away, and i'm never gonna get there! But baby steps I keep telling myself.
This go around I do have a fantastic support group, cheering me on

Half Marathon - here I come

Well I have decided to get my ass off the couch and do the Victoria Half Marathon again this year! I have officially started to train as of yesterday, so I am taking baby-steps current goal is to run the TC 10k in the first week of May, and then proceed to my final goal. I'm excited and nervous, but I know I can do it. I did it before a couple of years ago, I can do it again. I have tonnes of support this time around!

I'm really excited, I'm heading to Vancouver tonight to attended to the Vancouver Boat Show. I'm really hyped. It will be awesome to be around the people who buy our product and see competitors.. see what is out there..
I'm also planning on partaking in the Olympic festivities, for the one year anniversary!
