Cyclops Butterfly - Part One

So here we go, here is what I have come up with so far.... as you can see from the drawings and scribbles I've already made some adjustments and changes to the creature of my daughter's imagination.

Now onto the wings.. I have made a few sample of wings, and so far none to my liking. But I think I've almost got it.

Always learning.... to crochet Adele's creations!

I'm all about learning and taking courses and a thrive on discovery!
I decided I wanted to take my crochet up a notch, and learn how to make my own creatures and patterns. Why, because Adele comes up with the most intriguing sketches and how cool would that be to make them into reality. So I signed up on Craftsy "Amigurumi: Design Your Own Monster with Stacey Trock "  .

Just for this class alone, I was able to create my own pear..

Adele helped me sketch the pear and pick out the face etc. I think he turned out pretty cute!

Next is Adele's mini monster snow man

This course in amazing and because of Stacey I have learnt so much!!! SO on that note I'm going to show the process that I am going to take to create Adele's latest sketch..
Cyclops Butterfly.. (insert evil mad scientist laugh here)

So here we go. As you can see, mama redrew the creation. Here is my yarn selection. I thought the wings should be multicolor, and in my stash of yarn discovered this skein'o treasure, and can't forget that cup of coffee..

and Stacey doesn't know it, but her course is front and center.. just in case I need back-up..

Black and White

It's  been a really long time since I took pictures of Adele, and played around with them. Last night she put on her cowboy hat and I just couldn't resist picking up the camera and playing with my 50mm lens.
Playing with the picture.. this was very much meant to be a black and white picture.. so I played, and here are my three favorite of the same picture..

Subtle black and white with dark edging

Old time photo look, give it a western feel to it

Honestly I think this is my favorite... just something about it

What are your thoughts.. which one is your favorite????

So my 4 year old learnt how to play chess this weekend and what did she think of the game..... She loved it and asked to play again.

Thinking of her next move

Bunny

This weekend I was childless, which gave me the opportunity to crochet. I made a newborn bonnet and this little guy.. BUNNY..

He stands about 6" tall and has a poofy tail. He is all crocheted, so no harm was done in making of the bunny.

I really love making creatures.. they seem to come to life in my hands..  I don't think this pic does him justice..

so be prepared for bunny invasion! I have ideas people IDEAS!!!!!

Crochet Octopus... on a roll

So I'm on a roll in making my Octopusesss, I have been playing with different kinds of yarn, but the yarn I have most enjoyed using is Bernat Handicrafter yarn. Easy to crochet with, and makes a nice tight fabric. I'm using a 3.5 mm crochet needle for the head, and a 4.25mm for the legs and mantle piece.

I have been using eyes that I purchased from Etsy - 6060, she carries a variety of safety eyes, and is always fast with delivery... and inexpensive! Double bonus in my books.

As for my hands well it can be challenging, when doing the tight knit, my hands get slippery, and I will need to find a way that I can easily hang-on to the needle without killing my wrists. ANY suggestions would be fantastic on what others do to save their hands from cramping up!
